PhD Universidade de São Cisco 642-436 Paulo (1997). Professor of Theory of History and BrazilianHistory at the PUCRS; had occupied visiting positions at the universities of Oxford (UK) and Georgetown (USA); currently Sérgio Buarque de Holanda Chair of Brazilian Studies first visiting professor at Freie Universität, Berlin (2012/3). Interest research fields on Brazilian history (State formation & Nation Building, Brazilian Social Thought) and Theory of HIstory (historical narrative, historical writing, the history of historiography).
