The Rhetorical Method of Francis Bacon's History of the Reign of King Henry VII

Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is not to examine Bacon's relationship to other humanists, but his use of the rhetorical techniques that are now regarded as typical of humanism in general.[9] In taking this approach, I shall in part be concerned to point out what appear to be limitations in Bacon's method when viewed from the perspective of modern historiography. But I shall also attempt to demonstrate that rhetorical historiography was not as contemptible and limited as is sometimes thought.
