A concepção de homem e as crises históricas em Jacob Burckhardt: uma reflexão // [The conception of man and historical crises in Jacob Burckhardt: a reflection]

The aim of this paper is working with two categories which are present in Burckhardt'sworks: "Conception of man" and "Historical crisis". Firstly, the paper will indicate thatBurckhardt's renunciation of Hegel's history philosophy would have brought him closerto the anthropology. Next, the paper will suggest that the historian has a sense of humannature; in the end, it will talk about the historical crises. The paper's idea is mobilizingthese two aspects that are present in the historian's work and, thus, facilitate theunderstanding of Burckhardt's critics to the modernity, specifically to the 19th century.
