Abstract
An essay that examines the concept of modernity is presented. It addresses the problems associated with the use of historical periodizations such as modernity and discusses shifts that have occurred with the use of phrases such as modernity, modernization and modernism. Additionally, the article explores if democratizing the use of the word modernity has made the concept more precise.
