Abstract
Discusses Ewa Domanska's and Hayden White's views on the usefulness of history against the background of the views of other contemporary modernist and postmodernist theoreticians of history. The analysis is based primarily on two books: Domanska's 'Mikrohistorie. Spotkania w Miedzyswiatach' (1999) and 'Poetyka Pisarstwa Historycznego' (2000), a collection of White's studies edited by Domanska.
