Raffaele Pettazzoni E La Comparazione, Fra Storicismo E Fenomenologia // [Raffaele Pettazzoni and the Comparison between Historicism and Phenomenology]

Abstract
Reconciling phenomenology with aspects of historicism provided the foundation for Italian scholar Raffaele Pettazzoni (1883-1959) to develop the history of religions into an autonomous discipline during the early 20th century. Pettazzoni's model integrated phenomenology with historicism through an approach based on comparative history, a methodology that provided for consideration of historical events in light of human activity (interior) and the social, cultural, and physical environment (exterior) in which religious practices unfolded.
