Presenting the Past: Essays on History and the Public

Abstract
Deals with a wide variety of topics in "public" or "people's" history. Many of the essays are directly relevant to the rhetoric of history. See, e.g., Roy Rosenzweig on American Heritage, Joshua Brown on history in children's books, Edward Countryman on the film "Drums along the Mohawk," and Sonya Michel on feminist historical documentaries. Other topics covered include applied history, history museums, historical preservation, corporate history, oral history, history from below, and lesbian and gay history. (AM)
