Abstract
Historical science, or the study of history as verifiable fact, appears divorced from philosophy; however, the work of Immanuel Kant, E. Loone, R. G. Collingwood, and others is used to discuss a philosophy of history not as a replacement for historical science but as an alternative viewpoint.
