Abstract
Continued from a previous article. Georg Hegel characterizes the history of philosophy as spiral development, but his thesis to the effect that each philosophical system incorporates all the previous systems is untenable, and the paradoxes in his understanding of the history of philosophy reflect the contradiction found in his doctrine between the metaphysical system and the dialectical method.
