Emily Robinson

Biography and/or project

I am interested in political and popular understandings of historical time. My first book examined the way that British political parties have presented themselves as part of history and argued that ideologically-driven approaches to the past are in decline within parliamentary politics. I am currently working on shifting political and popular understandings of the word ‘progressive’ in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Britain. I have also written about the affective nature of archival research and about popular heritage events and reenactments.
