I’m master researcher at the Department of History at the Federal University of Minas Gerais – Brazil. My research aims to promote the interface between History and the History of Science (dialogue still underexplored by historians).
By understanding science as a social practice, it has also fallen to historians to understand the nature of its object, which is at the confluence of both disciplines. In this sense, we can say the History of Science investigates the science produced by men throughout time and thereby inserts it in the social sciences, enabling us to analyze the theories and methodological tools employed in writing this History.
Although each field analyzed possesses its specificities, the theoretical-methodological framework of History tout court offers various analytical tools to the History of Science. My research shows, that the historian must analyze the hard science and the scientific texts produced by it from a historical and historiographical perspective.
