Narrative und Strukturgeschichte im Historismus

Abstract
In differentiating between narrative and structural history, it is misleading to ascribe the term narrative exclusively to historicism and structuralism to modern historiography. That dichotomy would neglect the important structural historiography that occurred during the historicist era, and the inherent temporal structure of historicism. Moreover, historicism focused on factors stemming from the whole structure of human life and thus the move away from historicism to structural history should not be viewed as a negation but as a transformation or "structure-shift.
