Del "Optimismo" Historiografico a la "Crisis" de la Historia. Notas a un Debate Epistemologico. // [From historiographic "Optimism" to the "Crisis" of history. Notes for an epistemological debate.]

Abstract
Discusses historiographical developments from the positivist approach of the late 19th and early 20th centuries to the critical philosophical questions of the late 20th century. The works of French philosophers and historians such as Lucien Febvre (1878-1956), Guy Thuillier, and Henri-Irénée Marrou serve to trace the steps on the way toward critical realism and concerns over objectivity. Late-20th-century historiography saw a crisis of methodology, purpose, and identity as certain scholars introduced a number of epistemological challenges.
