Jana Kristin Hoffmann

Biography and/or project

I am a historian working as a Post-doc at Bielefeld University. In my current project, I am researching different ways and forms of historical forgetting in Germany mainly focusing on the 19th and 20th century. My interests involve different aspects of forgetting, e.g. how forgetting works through the transformation of knowledge, space, time, and objects.

I studied History, Protestant Theology and Educational Science at Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster. My PhD project dealt with religious discourses on sexuality, family, marriage and gender in the US American context. I analyzed the influence of these concepts on one hand for the conceptualization of religious communities and on the other hand in religious decision-making processes debating sex education, abortion, and homosexuality.
