Materialisticheskaia tendentsiia v filosofii istorii A. I. Gerzena

Abstract
Describes the works of Russian philosopher Alexander Herzen, 1830-70, and points out their materialist tendencies. Herzen was above all a philosopher of realism. Unlike many philosophers of western and central Europe, he included in his definition of socialism the antifeudal struggle of the peasant masses. He rejected the philosophy of idealism, and consistently opposed mere scholastic theorizing.
