Abstract
On changing ways of representing history visually in history books: images by artists of the author's time representing particular moments or events in the past, image series, statistics-based graphs figuring change over time (introduced by Enlightenment scholars but slow to gain wide adoption), images produced in the period they are intended to illustrate.
