Abstract
Discusses the transition from the rhetorical to the scientific model of historiography in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The aesthetic quality of historiography comes into growing contrast with its quality as research. From historiography as a mimesis of nature, one arrives with Droysen at the notion of historical science as "Arbeit." (am)
