Abstract
A number of feature-length documentaries which take up the issue of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the tsunami, which hit the northeast part of the mainland on 11 March 2011, and the subsequent nuclear meltdown in Fukushima have been made in Japan. This essay will examine how the notion of national and communal consciousness is portrayed in some of these documentaries.
